What A Wonderful Trip!

I can't tell you how much fun we had. We are both determined to go back to Hawaii as soon as possible. Soon meaning within the next three years. We have several nice trips planned and I don't know if we will be able to afford another trip, but John and Karen are going to retire in three years and move back to the states to Portland, Oregon. They want us to come back before they leave.

The Polynesian Cultural Center was very nice. The weather was absolutely perfect! The shows are great, and educational as well as fun to watch. They were a little too long for me though this trip. This was my third time to go to PPC, and I enjoyed it but was ready to leave when it was time.

We had a wonderful time over at the temple's visitor center. We met a nice mission couple from the Salt Lake area, and a sister missionary who is from Idaho. I told her about Mike who is working at the new Rexburg Temple, they were all very interested in hearing about that.

John Harper - Hawaii

In the picture is John and Karen, John's son Jeremy, his wife Sotia, and their little boy, and me.

I'm writing this from my cousin John's house in Hawaii. I just wanted to tell all my kids and friends who like to read my blog that Mike and I are having a wonderful vacation!

We have been to Pearl Harbor, and visited the Arizona Memorial. That is both nice and very sad. We have been to Punchbowl Cemetery, which is also very heart wrenching! But I love history, and there is a lot of history on this island.

Mike walked to the top of Diamond Head. I stayed at the bottom and ate lunch, watched the birds, read every reader board, and there are many to read.

This picture was taken when he returned from his hike to the top.

I just enjoyed myself, and was happy that he was able to walk the 200 steps or more to get to the top.

We have enjoyed the beach and love the gardens around the hotel! There are absolutely gorgeous!

We took a long walk one day through the street of hotels. Trump Towers is going up as we speak. I wanted to see the Royal Hawaiian Hotel, and we did. It is very lovely.

I also love the Hawaiian Hilton. It is old but I have fond memories of being there and watching a show where there was an Elvis impersonator.

We just came over to the north shore today. That is where my cousin lives. The next few days we are going to go to the Polynesian Cultural Center, and walk around the grounds of the temple. I remember that it is very beautiful there.

We are sad that we only have a few more days of our trip left. it will be sad to leave.

Hawaii - Here We Come

My cousin Dee Anna and I were born in Los Angeles. Not long afterward our we and our parents. Dee Anna's family moved to Las Vegas, and mine moved to Sunset, Utah.

When I was almost 12, my grandmother took me on a train trip to Las Vegas to stay a week at Dee Anna's house. You should have seen my eyes when I arrived at night at the Union Station, on Fremont Street, Las Vegas. When I saw all those bright lights, my eyes must have been as big as saucers!

Dee Anna and I had one of the most fun weeks of our lives. We left the following week for Los Angeles on the train. Dee Anna and I stood at the back of the train car, and sang at the top of our lungs, "California, here we come, right back where we started from." We didn't care how many people heard us, or how obnoxious we were. We sang it over and over again.

Tomorrow we leave for Hawaii. yeah! And I have been singing in my mind, "Look out, Hawaii, here we come. To do anything else - would just be dumb!" Hey, I made it up, and I like singing it!

I am still not well, but I am doing much better, and think I will be just fine for the trip.

I went to Herbs For Health, a health food store and asked Jeremy for a natural antibiotic. He gave me Collidial silver, and I can tell it is really working. I have been on it for about 3 days. He doesn't want me to be on it for more than a week.

Mike and I are packed and ready to go. He bought a few nice things to wear there also. They are clothes that will come in handy in Arizona when we get back there. He bought several pairs of shorts and nice looking shirts to go with them

We have been trying for years to get him into a pair of shorts. No way! Until now that is.

I feel really good about going now, even though I haven't completely recovered my health.

More Skin Cancers

I've just been to Dr. Maughan again to remove another skin cancer on my nose. He removed one a week ago, and told me that I had a 50/50 chance of getting another one within a week. It was more like 2 days.

This is the six skin cancer I've had over the past two years. Most of them have been on my nose. I keep saying that. "cancer is reshaping my nose." And, I liked the shape of my nose already.

I told the doctor that I thought the ski cancers were because of all the skiing I did for 20 years without using sun screens. He jumped all over that one. He said, "most definitely, you were getting the sun going up the hill and coming back down."

I hope this is the end of it, but it probably isn't. I will need a little plastic surgery on one part of my nose.

looking Forward To Hawaii

We're getting ready for our vacation to Hawaii in two weeks. I have been so sick that I am worried that I won't have enough strength to walk around and see the island the way I want to do.

Mike has never been there and is really looking forward to it.

I just get on my feet and then something else knocks me back down. All my problems are related to the foods that my body doesn't tolerate well.

I've been doing a little shopping to pick up a few clothes I need for the trip, and I bought two pairs of shoes. I needed a good pair of shoes to walk in, and hope these will do.

We bought the plane tickets last October when Mike retired from the base. He also paid the hotel fees so that he would know we were really going. We stayed at the Hale Koa on Waikiki beach. It's a military hotel. And is very beautiful. I stayed there in 1976 and 1978.

Hawaii brings back wonderful memories for me.
